Understanding Self-Doubt

Self-doubt is the feeling of uncertainty or a lack of confidence in your abilities or actions. It often appears as a fear of failure or negative self-comparison with others.

Let’s explore the uncertainty—why does it feel uncertain to you? Is it because you’ve never tried it before, weren’t prepared, feel influenced by the people around you, or are shaped by past experiences?

  • Never tried it before – You might be missing out on an amazing opportunity! If things don’t go as planned or you fail, would you be open to learning from it? Did it cause any real harm?

  • Lack of preparation – If you didn’t have time to prepare, embrace the unexpected. You might surprise yourself, and even if you don’t, no harm done!

  • The crowd you’re with – Ask yourself: Are you trying to impress, educate, or entertain? If impressing them fuels your self-doubt, maybe it’s time to find a new crowd. If educating, their willingness to learn is on them. If entertaining, just have fun—whether the response is good or bad, you’ve done your part!

  • Shaped by past experiences – shift your focus to the present, reflect on what you've learned, assess the current situation, and determine how to avoid repeating past mistakes.

Now, let’s talk about your abilities and actions. Preparation goes beyond just education—it includes mental and physical readiness. But the ultimate preparation for any situation is remembering this:

Philippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

If you do it through Him and for Him (as Christians, we ultimately work for Him), then regardless of the outcome, you can overcome doubt and succeed in ways beyond your imagination.

Bottom line?

JUST GO FOR IT!
